THIS is regarding the news that the customs authorities had successfully seized a large quantity of arms from a truck which was carrying fresh vegetables and steel scrap at the Torkham border. The authorities had spotted some arms packed in hidden gunny bags and found 305 repeater guns.
The driver escaped while his assistant was taken into custody. The authorities should be alert and investigate vehicles which are being used to transport illegal weapons. Strict punishments must be handed out to the suppliers of such deadly and illegal items.
