BRAVO! The ‘change’ has come through the polls, but only in slogans and words. The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s success appears to be a harbinger of change, but this is easier said than done.

To bring about this change the thinking and mindset of our leaders will have to change. And the quintessence of this change is a progressive mindset and scientific thinking.

Technology will bear results only when it is coupled with sound planning and firm faith in the philosophy of cause and effect and empirical thinking. But here is the rub; our great leader Imran Khan while heralding a change possesses an orthodox and theological mindset which is an antonym of empirical thinking.

So before bringing about any change, the leader will have to first change himself; which seems to be a tall order!

Let us hope for the best.

AT last, there is a ray of hope for this country. Imran Khan’s first address to the nation bodes well for the future. His seriousness, honesty and sincerity touched the hearts of the people. The last government gave nothing back to the nation; he is our only hope. He wants to carry on Jinnah’s Pakistan. Let us all join him to make our ‘Naya Pakistan’.

As John F Kennedy said, “Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for the country.” Pakistan Zindabad!

IMRAN Khan’s victory speech became the talk of the town. It was welcomed by all. The majority of analysts termed it a well-balanced maiden address to the nation.

He discussed all the core issues in a realistic manner. He vowed to curb corruption, eliminate poverty and promote good governance to improve living standards. He also pledged to do away with the lavish lifestyle of political elites and announced to resort to austerity measures. He said that he would assist his opponents to probe the charges of election rigging.

The PTI supremo will have to adopt some drastic measures to tackle the key issues including inflation, dollar price hike and pricey petroleum products.

The masses are desperate and want access to quality and affordable health and education. The water crisis is deepening day by day and people face problems getting clean drinking water. The cricketer-turned-politician is up against a plethora of problems. A competent, committed and able team is the need of the hour to deal with the formidable challenges faced by Pakistan.

I WANT to congratulate Mr Imran Khan on his victory. After so many hurdles the Kaptaan has finally clean bowled all of his opponents to gain a historic victory. Now all eyes are on him as a great responsibility falls on his shoulders. Everyone is expecting a change and “Naya Pakistan.” As prime minister he will have to take serious steps to eradicate poverty and unemployment, and to overcome the social, political and economic issues to make a prosperous and corruption-free Pakistan. He has to prove to be a good leader.

IMRAN Khan’s victory puts a great deal of responsibility on the PTI chief’s shoulders. The federal government under him should ensure equal opportunities for the citizens of all the four provinces. The previous PML-N government failed on this count. During the PML-N’s tenure, hundreds of infants died in Thar. But this tragedy could not move the government to act.

Thar has the potential to become a regional hub for peace and prosperity. The people of Thar are honest, hardworking and highly skilled. Many young men and women of Thar are working in garment factories in Karachi and tailoring houses in Thar. The PML-N government did nothing to establish a viable Thar garment export industry.

Date palm crop has been a victim of the PML-N government’s inaction. Farmers say that because of a lack of export promotion, date palms are mainly grown in the regions where the PML-N has little following such as Kech, Makran, Khairpur and Dera Ismail Khan. The people hope that the new government will help the people of Thar.
