KARACHI: The police department has transferred over Rs20 million into bank accounts of 682 widows of martyred policemen and other policemen who died of natural causes, a spokesperson for the police said on Sunday.

Taking personal interest in these cases, Inspector General of Sindh police Amjad Javed Saleemi has directed the police welfare branch to speed up the process of transferring the money to the accounts of heirs of the martyred and other policemen. These cases of the deceased policemen were pending.

The spokespersons said that a total of Rs27,460,000 was transferred into the accounts of the widows through online system.
