ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has turned down a summary sent to it by the capital police containing names of officials for shuffling in the wake of the general elections.

Sources said newly-appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jan Mohammad and the establishment division of the police had prepared the list for transfer/posting of subdivisional police officers and station house officers. The police wanted to swap the offices of a majority of SHOs and SDPOs which the ECP did not approve.

The commission asked the police to replace the serving officers of the operation wing with the security and logistics wings instead of swapping their offices.
