Two Eids

Published June 23, 2018

THE anger expressed by some letter writers regarding the controversial moon-sighting announcements by the Ruet-i-Hilal Committee particularly regarding Ramazan and Eid-ul-Fitr is justified.

This phenomenon is not new to Pakistan. Since my childhood, I have watched the Mufti Muneeb and Mufti Popalzai saga turn into a farce every year. I whole heartedly support the suggestion made in these columns to let Suparco decide this issue on a permanent basis as it is best qualified and equipped to handle this task.

One hopes next year the entire country begins Ramazan and celebrates Eid as one entity.
