SIALKOT: Five armed men on Wednesday allegedly murdered their sister and her husband for contracting marriage without their consent in village Akbar-Satrah in Daska tehsil.

Police claimed that Naila Bibi and Muhammad Azam had got married about a month ago against the wishes of her family.

On Wednesday, the couple was going to a local hospital on a motorcycle when Naila’s brothers and cousins, including Sarfraz, Shehzad alias Sajjad, Afaq, Anwar and Munna, opened fire on them, killing her on the spot and injuring Azam seriously.

Azam was shifted to Mayo Hospital, Lahore from Daska Civil Hospital due to his critical condition where he died later. Police shifted their bodies to the civil hospital for autopsy.

On the report of Azam’s younger brother, Azhar, Satrah police registered a murder case against the five suspects.

LAND DONATED: Trader Chaudhry Arshad Warraich donated 15 acres worth Rs150 million to Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) for establishing a college of international standards here in collaboration with non-governmental organisation (NGO) Akhuwat.

SCCI President Zahid Latif Malik told the media that Akhuwat will establish the college under the chamber’s supervision for providing quality higher education. The college would be affiliated with the NGO’s Akhuwat University.
Both SCCI and Akhuwat signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in this regard.

Deputy Commissioner Dr Farrukh Naveed also attended the ceremony at SCCI. He said Akhuwat University will provide free quality education at this college to needy students from across Pakistan.
