RAWALPINDI: The interim government on Wednesday transferred 13 senior police officers as part of the pre-poll reshuffle

Regional Police Officer Mohammad Wisal Fakhar Sultan Raja was transferred and directed to report to the federal government.

City Police Officer (CPO) Afzal Kausar was transferred and SSP Ahsan Abbas, currently posted in the National Highways and Motorways Police, was posted as CPO Rawalpindi.

Chief Traffic Police Officer Rawalpindi Bilal Iftikhar was replaced with SSP Operations Mohammad Bin Ashraf.

SSP Potohar Division Rawalpindi Syed Ali was posted as SP operation Iqbal Town Lahore while SP Headquarters Behram Khan was posted as SP city division Gujranwala and SP Operations City Lahore Ali Raza was posted as SP Saddar Rawalpindi.

SP VVIP Security Special Branch Rawalpindi Mohammad Imran Sethi was posted as SP investigation Model Town Lahore.

SP CIA Rawalpindi Maria Mahmood was posted as SP investigation Jhelum, SP Investigation Rawalpindi Amir Abdullah Niazi was posted as SSP operation Gujranwala and SSP Operation Gujranwala retired Flt Lt Imran Yaqoob was posted as SSP operation Rawalpindi.

SP Investigation Sargodha Mohammad Asim was posted as SP Rawal Town Rawalpindi.

Fayyaz Ahmed Dev, commandant Police Training College Lahore, was posted as regional police officer, Rawalpindi.

Senior police officers serving in different districts and divisions had been replaced under the caretaker setup in the last general elections as well.

A senior police officer told Dawn the postings were done only so there is a feeling of a neutral set up.

“Otherwise, they have nothing to do with elections,” he said, adding that like other citizens, police officials also have political affiliations.

Another police official said the reshuffling will not have an impact as the senior officials will be given other key posts in the same district.
