KARACHI: The Election Commission has received a total of 577 nominations from candidates aspiring for the 21 general seats of the National Assembly in the six districts of Karachi and 1,253 for the 44 general seats of the Sindh Assembly.

According to the initial lists prepared on the last date of filing of nomination papers, in the six districts of Karachi, in South district against NA-246, 26 nominations and against NA-247 South-II 41 nominations were filed.

In West district from NA-248 a total of 22 nominations were filed while from NA-249 West-II 33 nominations, from West-II NA-250 25, from West-IV NA-251 24 and from West-V NA-252 23 nominations were filed.

As many as 41 wish to grab NA-247

In Central district, where there are four NA seats, 100 nominations were filed. The details showed that from NA-253 Central-I there were 26 nominations, from NA-254 Central–II 22, NA-255 Central-III 27, and from NA-256 Karachi Central-IV 25 nominations were filed.

Similarly in East district there are four seats of the National Assembly where 117 nominations were filed. From NA-242 East-I, 25 nominations were filed, from NA-243 (East-II) 27, NA-244 (East-III) 36 and from NA-245 (East IV) 29 nominations were filed.

In Malir district there are three seats of the National Assembly where 77 nominations were filed. In NA-236 Malir-I 16, NA-237 (Malir-II) 27 and NA-238 (Malir-III) 34 nominations while in Korangi district, which also has three seats of the National Assembly, 89 nominations were filed. From NA-239 (Korangi-I) 34, NA- 240 (Korangi-II) 26 and NA-241 (Korangi-III) 29 nominations were filed.

In the Sindh Assembly against the 44 general seats, in South district there are five constituencies, from PS-107 to PS-111, whereas in South-I, 40, South-II 36, South-III 35, South-IV 39 and South-V 40 nominations were filed.

In West district there are 11 seats, from PS-112 to PS-122, of the Sindh Assembly, where 87 nomination papers were filed.

In Karachi East district there are eight Sindh Assembly seats, from PS-99 to PS-106, where 343 nominations were filed.

In Malir district there are five seats of the Sindh Assembly, from PS-87 to PS-91, where 186 nominations were filed.

Similarly in Korangi district with seven Sindh Assembly seats, from PS-92 to PS-98, 185 nominations were filed.
