RAWALPINDI: The body of a woman whose throat had been slit and arms and legs tied up was found in the water tank in her house on Adiala Road on Sunday, police said.

The victim’s husband has been arrested for murder.

The initial police report said the body was found from the suspect’s rented home.

DSP Saleem Khattak told Dawn that the suspect and his wife Fauzia were renting a room on Adiala Road with their children.

The suspect had an extramarital relationship with another woman who wanted to marry him after he divorced his first wife.

The suspect allegedly killed his wife sometime on Friday night, and then tied up the body and disposed it in the house’s water tank before escaping.

Police said he left his children with their grandparents before allegedly killing his wife.

The police said the suspect and his partner have been arrested.

The body was recovered after residents noticed a smell coming from the tank and informed the police.

Separately, a man was killed by two individuals at his automobile workshop in Naseerabad on Sunday.

Kamran Zahid, who was in his 30s, was shot and killed while he was repairing a car at his workshop.

Police said the victim’s family said they had an old enmity with a family in Swabi but the issue between the families had been settled and therefore they could not accuse them.
