KARACHI: Model park inaugurated

KARACHI, May 28: The Nazim Gulshan Iqbal Town, Abdul Wahab, on Saturday said the town administration had spread a network of roads, sewerage and water in the town, and had rooted out the outdated civic system. Addressing the inaugural ceremony of Mahmood Ghaznavi Model Park in Block 16 of Gulshan town, he said after taking over the town’s administration, he and his team had faced the challenge of corruption.

Citing achievements regarding fighting corruption, he said the town budget had reached Rs1 billion from Rs50 million. “The rent of the health club was Rs500 per month, but we issued an open tender for it, and now the town is receiving Rs32,000 as rent of same facility,” he added.

The ceremony was also addressed by MMA’s Sindh President, MNA Asadullah Bhutto, Naib-Nazim Gulshan Iqbal Engineer Saleem Azhar and others.

The town nazim revealed that Rs1 million was being charged for fuel of only 10 vehicles in the past, but now 32 vehicles of town were plying with only Rs0.6 million being spent on fuel.

He said they had developed infrastructure from the amount saved by curbing corruption and strict monitoring.

Addressing the ceremony, Naib Nazim Engineer Saleem Azhar said four years back, the park was a garbage dump, which had been turned into a beautiful model park.—PPI
