ISLAMABAD: Pakistani and Chinese parliamentarians held a dialogue here on Tuesday. “The Senate Foreign Affairs Committee held a detailed and substantive dialogue with their counterpart Foreign Affairs Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) at the Parliament House,” a statement issued by the Senate committee said.
The chairman of the Senate committee, Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed, in his comments said that Pakistan and China enjoyed a strategic relationship based on a track record of supporting each other on their respective “core interests”. He noted that a unique feature of the Pakistan-China friendship was that all political forces, the government and parliament, the armed forces and civil society were united on stressing that this relationship was the most vital component of Pakistan’s foreign policy because it served the national interests of Pakistan.
The leader of the Chinese delegation, Kong Quan, said that China would continue to support the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, including strengthening cooperation with the youth as well as reinforcing Pakistan’s industrial and manufacturing base.
