QUETTA: Adviser to Balochistan Chief Minster on Finance Dr Ruqqaya Saeed Hashmi has resigned from office and said nothing is more important than respect and honour, it emerged on Sunday.

While she confirmed that she had sent her resignation to the chief minister, she did not mention the reason. She stated she was tendering her resignation due to personal reason. However, the chief minister has not yet accepted it so far.

Sources told Dawn on Sunday that she had sent her written resignation to the chief minister on Friday evening after a senior parliamentarian used abusive language for not including some development schemes and funds in his constituency when they were sitting in the chief minister’s chamber in the Balochistan Assembly. The chief minister was not present.

The sources said CM Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo later made efforts to resolve the issue. They said he did not accept the resignation. Dr Hashmi, who is the wife of the newly formed Balochistan Awami Party’s founder, did not participate in the budget debate though she was present in the Balochistan Assembly on May 11. She was the first woman adviser on finance in the parliamentary history of Balochistan who presented the provincial budget in the assembly.
