MIRAMSHAH: Assailants killed the son of a former parliamentarian and two others in separate incidents in the Mirali and Miramshah areas of North Waziristan on Saturday night and Sunday, officials of the political administration said.

Witnesses said unidentified people wearing uniform of security forces stabbed one person to death near Miramshah on Sunday. The attackers fled the scene after the incident.

The deceased was identified as Azizur Rehman, a shopkeeper. He was walking home when the knife-wielding men attacked him. He died in the hospital.

Mosa Kalim, son of the late MNA Maulana Mohammad Dindar, was shot dead in Mirali town on Saturday night. Later, a schoolteacher identified as Abdul Qayyum, son of prominent religious figure Maulana Ishaq, was killed in Ziraki village near Mirali.

Targeted killings have been on the rise in Mirali and other parts of North Waziristan. Ten people have been killed over the last one month alone, sparking fear among the area residents.

A protest was held in Mirali Bazaar on Sunday against the targeted killings. Protesters called upon the political and military authorities to ensure safety of people and take action against the attackers.
