Shoe store gutted

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Jan 8: A fire broke out in a shoe store in main Commissionary bazaar on Sunday night, destroying shoes worth half a million rupees.

According to sources, a fire broke out in Kamal Shoe Store owned by Mustafa Kamal which soon engulfed the entire shop. Night watchman informed the police which called the fire tender. However, repeated refilling by small fire tender consumed much time and every thing turned into ashes by the time fire was put out.

The other shopkeepers and people of the area also took part in fire fighting effort. One person fainted due to suffocation and was shifted to the hospital.

BIRD’S OPERATION: A renowned eye surgeon and assistant professor Gomal Medical College Dr Mohammad Salim Khan saved a quail from going blind. The quail was owned by a famous political figure of the area.

Sources said the quail eyes received injuries during a fight with other birds.
