NOWSHERA/MARDAN: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak said on Thursday that his government had established many micro hydropower stations and produced 74 megawatts of electricity. He said that 20 megawatts of the total 74 had been bought by Wapda while the federal government was interested in getting the remaining to add it to the national grid.

Addressing oath-taking ceremony of Nowshera Bar Association, the chief minister also said that they would make another 700 micro hydropower stations if they were voted to power again in the province. He said that the claim of PTI chairman Imran Khan regarding the power stations was being projected in a negative way by their opponents.

He said that PTI was committed to providing electricity to remote areas and villages at cheaper rates. He said that they had planned line transmission at the provincial level instead of depending on the central government.

Mr Khattak said that they had fulfilled all promises made with people in the previous general elections. He said that MMA had failed in their tenure to work for promotion of Islamic values in province.

He claimed that other political parties had made politics a business and looted the national exchequer. He said that they were struggling to eliminate corruption and culture of commissions. He said that they would promote industries to end unemployment in the province. The chief minister said that the government institutions would become stronger under the honest leadership. Nowshera Bar Association president Azmat Ali Shah appreciated the good governance, merit policy and anti-corruption drive of the provincial government.

In Mardan, the chief minister said that the establishment of Girls Cadet College in the district would play a vital role in promotion of girls education. He said this as chief guest at a function held here on Thursday at the under-construction building of Mardan Girls Cadet College located in Jamra locality of Takhtbai tehsil.

The chief minister was accompanied by provincial education minister Mohammad Atif Khan, MNA Ali Mohamamd Khan and other PTI leaders.

Mr Khattak said that the establishment of first girls cadet college of the country in Mardan was an honour for the district. He appreciated the principal and staff for their efforts which had earned a good name for the college.

He was of the view that progress and development could not be made without quality education. He said that they had provided all modern facilities to the government educational institutions. He said that they were taking steps to introduce uniform education system in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
