WITH the world becoming dependent on multimedia, our children have little option except to idolise Bollywood and Hollywood stars as their role models. Even our elders know little about Pakistan’s great personalities and heroes. We need to tell our children about Pakistan’s luminaries, some of whom are known globally.

The primary school curriculum should have lessons on the lives of the great men and women who have brought honours to our country.

One such hero is Abdul Sattar Edhi. The late Edhi sahib was the epitome of humility whose only mission was to help the needy and most destitute, irrespective of caste and creed. He went about doing this not only in Pakistan but other regions too.

A chapter in our school curriculum devoted to Edhi sahib is the least the Pakistani nation can do to pay tribute this great humanitarian. May his soul rest in peace.
