MANSEHRA: Awami National Party provincial vice-president and former minister Nimroz Khan died of a heart attack in Torghar on Sunday.

Mr Khan was attending the certificate distribution ceremony of a seminary in Torghar, when he felt pain in chest and was taken to a hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.

Nimroz Khan, a banker by profession, had joined ANP on his retirement and was elected to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly after the 2008 general elections from the only provincial assembly constituency of Torghar district.

Later, he was inducted into the provincial cabinet and was entrusted the portfolio of Auqaf department.

Nimroz Khan was known for his efforts for giving Torghar the status of a settled district from a tribal belt of Mansehra district and the objective was achieved in 2012 when the government declared Torghar as a district of KP.

His funeral prayers would be offered at 3pm in Dagar Beerbutt village on the outskirts of Oghi on Monday.

According to party sources, ANP provincial president Ameer Haider Hoti is expected to attend the funeral prayers.
