LAHORE: An inter-school sports day was held here at the Wapda Sports Complex under the patronage of the Presbyterian Education Board (PEB).

According to a press release, students from Lahore, Rawalpindi, Kasur, Faisalabad, Nankana Sahib, Sialkot and other parts of Punjab participated in wide-ranging activities in front of an audience that comprised parents, teachers and the school administrations.

Besides PEB Executive Director Veda Shaheen Gill, MPA Shakeel Marcus, hockey player Rabia Qadir and others participated as guests of honour.

Flat race, chatti race, obstacle race, three-legged race, ball in the basket and push-ups were the main attractions of the event. The sports activities concluded with a tug of war.

In her welcome speech, Veda Gill highlighted the importance of sports in a student’s life and said the board would provide equal opportunities to students to display their talent in various fields.

MPA Marcus said the provincial government was working since day one to promote sports and other healthy activities at all educational levels. “Our government will continue to focus on healthy activities,” he said, adding that the youth must show their potential.

Presbyterian Church of Pakistan moderator Dr Majeed Able said he was very impressed to see capabilities and talent of the new generation. “You must continue the struggle in every field of life,” he told the students.

Other speakers said students will have to follow the true path in their life to achieve success.

At the end, trophies, medals and certificates were presented to the winners.
