IT was shocking that someone tried to scare one of our Supreme Court judges by firing at his residence. It is a matter of great concern for all Pakistanis, who see the courts as a ray of hope.

Watching the TV news programmes and reading newspapers, we see an honest attempt by our law-enforcement agencies and judiciary to deliver justice. This criminal act by some disgruntled person or committed on behalf of such a person is condemnable by all.

Sadly, we have not been able to teach our people what real democracy is. It is not rule by a person or a family, but about being accountable to the people (taxpayers). Being questioned should not be taken as an insult by any person in the government.
