Mir for OIC summit

Published May 21, 2005

LAHORE, May 20: Senator Sajid Mir, head of the Markazi Jamiat Ahle Hadith, on Friday called for an OIC summit to adopt a resolution against the United States for desecrating the Holy Quran. In a statement, he said Islamic countries should continue their protest campaign unless those responsible for the sacrilege were arrested and brought to justice.

Senator Mir, who is also a central leader of the MMA, has also sent letters to King Fahd, the OIC secretary-general and leaders of a number of countries, urging them to use their influence on the US.

He alleged that President Musharraf was committed to recognizing Israel.
