KARACHI, May 20: Karachi is the only district of the country where objectives of the delegation of powers to the grassroot level has been achieved. These views were expressed by the City Nazim, Niamatullah Khan, at the inauguration ceremony of the installation of Sui gas pipeline in the Shah Latif Town, on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, the city nazim said that the City District Government Karachi (CDGK) never neglected rural localities of the metropolis and had equally distributed development funds among all the towns.

He said Gadap and Bin Qasim towns, composed of mainly rural areas, were also being provided equal funds and vehicles for sanitation as it was being provided in other towns of the city.

The nazim said that rural localities of Karachi were neglected in the district council system, which resulted in less uplift works and non-provision of health care and education facilities in these areas.

Therefore, rural towns cannot be compared with the urban towns of the city, he added.

He said the city government had provided Rs16.3 million to each union council.—PPI
