According to the weekly statement of position of all scheduled banks for the week ended March 23, 2018 deposits and other accounts of all scheduled banks stood at Rs12,127.971 billion after a 0.71 per cent increase over the preceding week’s figure of Rs12,041.992bn. Compared with last year’s corresponding figure of Rs10,873.705bn, the current week’s figure was higher by 11.53pc.

Deposits and other accounts of all commercial banks stood at Rs12,054.098bn against preceding week’s deposits of Rs11,959.083bn, showing a rise of 0.80pc. Deposits and other accounts of specialised banks stood at Rs73.873bn, lower by 10.90pc against previous week’s figure of Rs82.910bn.

Total assets of all scheduled banks stood at Rs16,947.688bn, higher by 1.45pc over preceding week’s figure of Rs16,704.796bn. Current week’s figure is higher by 12.72pc compared to last year’s corresponding figure of Rs15,034.645bn.

Borrowings by all scheduled banks decreased in the week under review

Total assets of all commercial banks stood at Rs16,663.061bn, higher by 1.50pc over previous week’s figure of Rs16,417.205bn, while total assets of specialised banks at Rs284.627bn were lower 1.03pc over the previous week’s Rs.287.591bn.

Gross advances of all scheduled banks stood at Rs6,692.960bn, higher by 0.12pc over the preceding week’s figure of 6,685.107bn. Compared with last year’s corresponding figure of Rs5,579.036bn, current week’s figure is higher by 20.00pc.

Advances by all commercial banks increased to Rs6,520.062bn from previous week’s Rs6512.315bn indicating a rise of 0.12pc, whereas advances of specialised banks stood at Rs172.898bn against previous week’s Rs172.792bn.

Borrowings by all scheduled banks decreased in the week under review. It fell by 5.28pc to Rs2,531.793bn against previous week’s Rs2,404.753bn.

Compared to last year’s corresponding figure of Rs2,060.899bn, current week’s figure is higher by 22.85pc.

Borrowings by commercial banks in the week at Rs2,415.065bn were higher by 5.25pc against previous week’s Rs2,294.499bn. Borrowings by specialised banks stood at Rs116.728bn against the previous week’s figure of Rs110.254bn.

Investments of all scheduled banks stood at Rs7,793.230bn against preceding week’s figure of Rs7,752.614bn, higher by 0.52pc. Compared to last year’s corresponding figure of Rs7,549.964bn, current week’s figure is higher by 3.22pc.

Investments by all commercial banks stood at Rs7,706.515bn, higher by 0.56pc against preceding week’s figure of Rs7,663.895bn, whereas investment by all specialised banks stood at Rs86.715bn against preceding week’s figure of Rs88.719bn.

Cash and balances with treasury banks of all scheduled banks increased over the week and stood at Rs974.020bn against previous week’s Rs967.096bn, showing a rise of 0.71pc. Current week’s figure increased by 13.23pc compared to last year’s corresponding figure of Rs860.219bn.

Cash and balances of all commercial banks stood at Rs969.688bn, larger by 0.77pc over previous week’s Rs962.248bn. Cash and balances of all specialised banks were higher by 10.64pc at Rs4.332bn against the preceding week’s Rs4.848bn.
