KARACHI: Four suspects, including a woman, allegedly involved in an ‘honour killing’ case in Karachi last month, were arrested in Islamabad with the help of technology and cooperation of the capital city’s police, said a senior police officer here on Saturday.

Karachi West SSP (Investigation) Zeeshan Shafiq Siddiqi, speaking at a press conference, said that on Feb 15 a young man, Pervez Khan, was murdered with sticks, stones and knives by some relatives, which triggered fear among the residents of Gulshan-i-Ghazi in Baldia Town.

Ittehad Town police registered the murder case and conducted several raids for arrest of the suspects, who escaped from the city.

However, on March 18, with the help of technology, the suspects were traced in Golra Sharif in Islamabad. The city police team sent to the country’s capital that, with the help of the local police, arrested Nawabzada Hashim, his wife, Zartaj, and his two sons, Arif and Shahrukh. The held suspects were presented before the court concerned in Islamabad, which remanded them in custody of the Karachi police for interrogation.

SSP Siddiqi revealed that Pervez Khan was murdered for so-called ‘honour’.

He said one of the arrested suspects, Arif, had suspicions that his wife had “illicit relationship” with the victim.

The officer said Arif with other family members had also tried to kill his wife, who managed to flee and was now in “safe custody” of her family.
