LAHORE: The fourth South Asian International Wushu Championship started here at the International Sports Gymnasium of the Nishter Park Sports Complex on Friday.

Sameer Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner of Lahore, was the chief guest at the colourful opening ceremony witnessed by a large number of spectators.

More than 120 players from Afghanistan, Iran, Sri Lanka besides host sides namely Pakistan Greens and Pakistan Whites competing in the championship were present in the ceremony and participated in the march past.

Speaking on the occasion, the Sri Lankan coach-cum-captain said he was glad to come to Lahore, and added that “Pakistanis have always been very kind people. Pakistan is a safe country for sports”.

Coaches from Afghanistan and Iran also thanked the organisers and DC Lahore for extending great hospitality.
