CHARSADDA: Traders blocked the motorway link road at Farooq Azam Chowk here on Thursday to record their protest against the growing robbery incidents in Charsadda bazaar.

The traders organisation had given the call for protest against snatching of Rs4.6 million from a trader at gunpoint in Charsadda bazaar.

The protestors blocked the motorway link road and set tyres on fire at the Farooq Azam Chowk.

They chanted slogans against the district administration for its failure to ensure security to the local shopkeepers and businessmen.

They also announced to shut down their shops and markets in Charsadda bazaar on Friday (today) to demand arrest of the robbers and recovery of the looted money.

Members of the provincial traders association and activists of political parties also participated in the protest rally. They set up a protest camp in solidarity with the traders. The rally was addressed by traders’ leaders, including Lal Mohammad, Mian Rahim, Saleh Shah, Jan Mohammad, Bashir Khan and Attaur Rehman.
