RAWALPINDI: A three-day photography exhibition titled Umeed Ka Safar started at the Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) on Thursday, showcasing the efforts of national leaders during the Pakistan movement.

PML-N MPAs Tehseen Fawad and Zaibun Nisa inaugurated the exhibition in which more than 110 photographs relating to the Independence War of 1857 and the Pakistan movement have been showcased.

Some pictures show the Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah meeting with British officers and others show him in meetings with Hindu and Sikh leaders. A rare photograph shows cabinet committee members meeting with Jinnah during a visit to India.

There are also pictures of his personal life, including of the Quaid with his friends in Bombay.

The photographs were displayed in chronological order, from the 1857 war, to the making of the Pakistan Muslim League and then the 1940 resolution for making a separate country.

Speaking on the occasion, MPA Fawad said the photo exhibition is a reminder about the struggle for national heroes for independence.

She said the younger generation should see the exhibition in order to understand how the Quaid made a separate country through dialogue and logic.

The solution to all problems is in dialogue and understanding the point of view of others.

RAC Director Waqar Ahmed said the council had collected old photographs of the Pakistan Movement, leaders of the movement and the migration of Muslims into Pakistan and that these pictures are put on display at least three times a year on various national holidays.

The exhibition will be open till March 24.
