IN the second incident in a month yet another ‘captain’ of ride-hailing company Careem was targeted and killed brutally. Last month, Junaid Mustafa, 24, was killed and now Sajwal Ameer was robbed and murdered in Islamabad.
The authorities have failed to protect citizens while the crime rate has increased in Islamabad. The police seem more interested in arresting drug dealers than controlling street crime.
If this doesn’t get controlled, this trend will continue. Careem should provide life insurance policy to its captains. If this trend continues, work opportunities created by the launch of Careem will decrease.
Sajwal was also protesting for Junaid, who was killed last month, and now he has become a victim. I appreciated the awareness campaigns run by the Inspector General of Police, Islamabad, but will ask him to ensure protection of citizens.
