IT is unfortunate that the media, particularly private TV channels, is disseminating misleading information about Balochistan, distorting its true picture.

I am a Baloch student pursuing higher studies in Lahore. It saddens me to see that the people of Punjab generally have very little knowledge about Balochistan, its people, history, culture, and geo-economic and geo-strategic importance.

In my interaction with the people of Lahore and from other parts of Punjab, I have observed they think that Balochistan is one of the most dangerous places in the world.

My conversations with them reveal that whatever information they have about my province is acquired from private TV channel broadcasts. This feedback, I am afraid is not a pleasant one. Their incredulous look shocks me when I try to present the true picture of Balochistan, which is a liberal and diverse society, tolerant and peace-loving. This is a humble request to private TV channels to promote Balochistan’s true face.
