Cleanliness drive

Published March 16, 2018

HOW to keep Karachi clean? First, the Sindh government should be held responsible for not taking adequate measures to clean the mounds of garbage at many places in the city. Second, the people of Karachi are also partly responsible for this menace.

The Mayor of Karachi must ensure that adequate funds are made available to him and are effectively spent. One can suggest immediate removable of garbage to landfill sites, and the required number of incinerators to be positioned close to landfill sites. The expenditure incurred can be recovered by producing electricity.

There is a need for launching a campaign on television and in newspapers to tell the people not to throw garbage at open places except at specified bins, warning them that violators would be fined.
