Babar’s removal

FARHATULLAH Babar, an experienced and dedicated PPP worker, has been removed from his post as spokesperson for the party and its co-chairman.

There is a dual narrative in the media about him — that he has resigned on his own or that his removal is the result of his criticism of his party’s policies.

I wonder how a party which has millions of supporters in the country can make a decision to remove a worker who was loyal to the party in hard times. Institutions always respect workers and allow them to have their say in a democratic way.

Why didn’t the party and its leadership decode the message he was to convey to the parliament in his farewell speech? Mr Babar should be restored to his position.
