KARACHI, Jan 7: Debutants Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) made a winning start in the Patron’s Trophy Grade-II cricket tournament with an exciting one-wicket success against University Grants Commission (UGC) at Asghar Ali Shah Stadium Monday.
Three-day match ended an hour after lunch as KESC, chasing 132, reached the target with their last pair Owais Athar (3) and Adnan Malik (1) at the crease.
KESC made 167 in their first innings.
UGC were dismissed for 85 in the first innings and scored 213 in the second.
KESC resumed their second innings at two for the loss of one wicket. Bilal Murtaza and Wajid Ali added 54 for the second wicket. Bilal top-scored with 37 while Wajid Ali made 15.
However, once the stand was broken KESC slumped to 116 for seven and lost two more wickets to make it 128-9 before Owais and Adnan came together.
Medium-pacer Raheel Sayani snapped up four for 34. Mamoon Khan, who took six for 50 in the first innings, claimed three for 34.

Servis Industries got three points for the first innings.
