KARACHI: A man was shot dead and his wife wounded over some personal enmity in the Quaidabad area on Saturday morning, police said.

They added that Rustam Khan, 46, and his wife, Noor Taj, 32, were shot at and wounded when a man, Sartaj, opened fire on them in Sherpao Colony. The wounded couple were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where doctors pronounced Mr Khan as dead on arrival, said Dr Seemin Jamali, executive director of the JPMC.

Dr Jamali added that the condition of the woman was out of danger. She had sustained a bullet injury in her left thigh.

“The murder appears to be an outcome of some monetary dispute,” said Quaidabad SHO Mohammed Ali Marwat.

The officer added that the suspected killer, Sartaj, was arrested with the weapon used in the crime.
