KARACHI: Five horses are in contention for the top honours in the Luxurious Cup when it takes place in the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Saturday.

The races are being resumed after a fortnight as it could not take place on March three to enable owners, turf accountants, riders, trainers, horses and equine sports lovers to travel to Lahore for Pakistan Derby that was held on March four.

The cup race, which is third in day’s racing order scale order V, will be contested over five furlongs.

The next race, which is the day’s feature event, scale order II, III and IV to be run over five furlongs, has a field of seven horses.

Altogether, 24 horses have entered the day’s four races and will vie for honours barring last-minute withdrawal. The first two races will go over four-and-a-half furlongs.

According to schedule, the first race gest into action at 2.30pm.
