TJP terms arrests unjustified

FAISALABAD, Jan 7: The Tehrik-i-Jaferia Pakistan has voiced disquiet over the crackdown against religious leaders and activists.

Talking to newsmen, TJP Punjab president Syed Sibtain Kazmi said the unjustified arrests might create problems for government agencies and religious bodies.

He said the government should adopt some positive and welfare-oriented policies by sinking all differences.

The nation, he said, was united on all forums especially over the issue of Pak-India tension.

He also underlined the need for calling an emergent session of the Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC) so that a solid step could be taken on all international issues.

A movement should be launched to motivate people over the government stand on Kashmir and Afghanistan to foil all rumours and propaganda of the Indian forces, he said.

To a question, Kazmi said the TJP would take part in the next general elections and efforts were being made for an alliance with other religious and political parties.

Future line of action and policies of the TJP would be announced after a meeting in Lahore on Jan 13, he added.
