BAHAWALPUR: An eight-member Sindh police team reached Basti Lang Garwan in the limits of Uch Sharif police station, about 70km from here, to investigate the alleged killing of two men of the area along with Naqibullah Mehsud in a ‘fake’ encounter by SSP Rao Anwar last month.

Dawn learnt the police team, led by a deputy superintendent of police (DSP), went to the village where they spent a day to probe the complaints of the families of the deceased, Muhammad Ishaque and Muhammad Sabir. The family members of both the deceased had gone to Karachi for collection of their bodies. They had filed complaints with Malir police (Karachi) against Rao Anwar, alleging that the deceased were innocent and they were killed by Anwar in a fake encounter. Local police sources, on the condition of anonymity, indicated that the Sindh police team would stay in the area for some days for the probe.
