QUETTA, Jan 7: Justice (retd) Amirul Mulk Mengal, governor of Balochistan, has said that the police had succeeded in breaking the network of RAW agents in Balochistan and have arrested several suspects in this regard.
“Investigation is under way regarding their (the suspects’) links with the Indian secret agency RAW,” Justice Mengal told newsmen here on Monday after the oath-taking ceremony of five new provincial ministers at the Governor’s House
He said that Balochistan did a commendable job making the country’s biggest haul last week by seizing illegal heavy arms and ammunition from two locations in Quetta.
The governor added that the Iranian government would be contacted regarding the involvement of the Indian consulate at Zahidan in assisting RAW agents in Balochistan.
The inspector general police, Balochistan, told reporters that a team of senior police officer was trying to trace out links of RAW’s agents with local people.
“Soon we will be able to tell the people about the facts,” he said. Replying to a question about the action against Jaish-i- Mohammad and Lashkar-i-Tayyaba, he said that these organizations have no network in the province.
The governor, while replying to a question about expending his cabinet said that it was necessary for making the devolution plan a success.
He also said that the government was implementing the annual Development and Social Action Programme through the district and town Nazims.
When his attention was drawn towards price-hike and the deteriorating hygienic conditions, the governor directed the District Nazim to take necessary action in this respect.
