ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Wednesday discharged contempt of court notices against The News and its reporter Ahmed Noorani, but Justice Asif Saeed Khosa who was heading the bench observed that Nawaz Sharif was never referred to as a Godfather in the Panama Papers case judgement.

Justice Khosa regretted that statements were being attributed to the judges out of context and asked not to attribute remarks which had not been said by the apex court in the Panama verdict.

The judge also asked the media persons to exercise caution while reporting the court proceedings.

Nowhere in the judgement the court had mentioned The Godfather, Justice Khosa said, adding that the reference to the Sicilian Mafia was also made by a judge of the Supreme Court because of Nihal Hashmi’s open threats to the families of the judges.
