NOWSHERA: Two brothers were shot dead in Khaisari village of Manki Sharif here on Monday.

According to villagers, Alamzeb and Qari Maaz Gul were shot dead allegedly by Naveed Khan when they were leaving for Rawalpindi.

They said Naveed started indiscriminate fire over the brothers, as a result, Alamzeb died on spot while Maaz Gul got critical injuries.

They said the injured was rushed to Manki Sharif hospital where he succumbed to injuries as he was not provided timely treatment.

Azakhel police confirmed the incident, saying Umar Hayat, brother of the deceased, had lodged FIR against Naveed. They said the exact reason behind the double murder was yet to be known.

Both the bodies were then taken to the district headquarters hospital, Nowshera, for autopsy, where relatives strongly condemned the attitude of staff of Manki Sharif hospital and demanded strict action against them as they did not give official ambulance to shift the injured to another hospital.

Meanwhile, a villager told Dawn that the father and three brothers of the accused were killed in the past. But, he said Naveed had no enmity with the deceased.

The police registered FIR and started further investigation.

Meanwhile, body of an unknown person was recovered from Kabul River on Monday.

Police brought the body to hospital and buried it in the official graveyard after autopsy.
