The streets of Nice, France were filled with cheer on Saturday night, February 17, as the town's people welcomed the 134th edition of the King's Carnival.

Scheduled to take place from February 17 to March 3, 2018, this year's edition welcomed people to "come and dance to the rhythm of the stars and planets" as the theme focused on space, honouring French astronaut Thomas Pesquet.

The carnival will feature six carnival parades, 17 floats and more than 1,000 dancers and musicians from all over the world.

One of the 17 floats to pass through the streets displayed giant paper-mache figures of US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, depicting the diplomatic tensions between the two countries.

Some of the other world leaders to roll down the streets were Brigitte Macron, wife of the French President, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Britain's Prime Minister Theresa May.
