A week before their opening match of the 2018 Pakistan Super League, Islamabad United have been dealt an injury setback as Mohammad Hasnain, the Under-19 fast bowler and an emerging talent, has picked up an unspecified knock.

The player has been ruled out of the tournament, which means his injury could be of a serious nature.

Hasnain, 17, was picked by United on the basis of his impressive showings for the Under-19 national team.

It was hoped that the PSL platform would provide Hasnain an opportunity to prove his mettle in the big leagues and perhaps, follow in the footsteps of Shadab Khan and Fakhar Zaman.

However, it seems the youngster will have to wait a little longer before he can prove himself.

United, the champions of the PSL's first tournament in 2016, will kick off their bid to reclaim the title on February 24 with a match against reigning champions Peshawar Zalmi.
