LAHORE: Brig Zulfiqar Baig registered a hat-trick as Army Whites earned a convincing 7-2 win against Diamond Paints Black to reach the final of the Spring Polo Cup here at the Lahore Polo Club ground on Friday.

Besides Brig Zulfiqar’s hat-trick, Maj Omer Minhas scored a brace while Ignasio Negri and Maj Haseeb Minhas contributed a goal apiece for Army Whites. Eulogio Celestino pumped in both the goals for the losing outfit.

Army Whites took a 2-0 lead in the first chukker as Brig Zulfiqar hit back-to-back goals. Ingnasio Negri then converted a 30-yard penalty to enhance Army’s lead to 3-0. Another fantastic field goal came from in-form Brig Zulfiqar extended the lead to 4-0.

In the dying moments of the second chukker, Celestino fired a field goal to make it 4-1.

The scoreline became 5-2 in the third chukker. Maj Haseeb scored to give his side a 5-1 lead but Celestino once again came from behind to record another impressive field goal to reduce the margin to 5-2.

While continuing to dominate, Army Whites smashed two more goals through Maj Omer in the fourth chukker to seal the fate of the match.
