RAWALPINDI: For the first time, the police will use telescopes to check on kite flying and have also decided to arrest the parents of children found violating the ban on kite flying, a senior police official said.

He said each police station has been provided with two telescopes which are to be installed on the rooftops of tall buildings to keep an eye on kite flying while policemen on motorbikes will patrol narrow streets.

Superintendent of Police Potohar Region Syed Ali said special teams have been constituted to check on kite flying and that people have been asked to call the emergency service 15 if they see anyone violating the ban.

The police have been provided with megaphones to make public announcement against kite flying and that those violating the ban will be jailed. The parents of children who are found flying kites will be arrested, he said.

Plaza owners have been served with notices regarding the use of the building rooftops for kite flying and for people playing loud music on rooftops of their houses and buildings and that announcements have been made from mosques against kite flying and selling as well.

He said the police arrested ten people in its crackdown against kite flying and selling on Thursday.
