KARACHI, May 12: The first phase of the annual exams 2005 of the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi will commence as per schedule from May 17. This was stated by BIEK Chairman Prof Iftikhar Zaidi here on Thursday.

He said more than 136,000 candidates would appear in these examinations for which 183 examination centres had been set up in different parts of the metropolis.

Prof Zaidi said in the first phase the examinations of the candidates of science, pre-engineering, pre-medical and regular and private candidates of commerce group would be conducted.

He said that 80 vigilance teams had been formed for overseeing the process of exams and there would also be 10 ‘super vigilance’ teams consisting of senior principals and officers. — APP
