KARACHI: Top seed Hareem Anwar and second seed Atiqa Khan cruised into the women’s singles final of the sixth Dr Essa Mohammad ranking table tennis tournament at the Sindh Sports Board Complex on Thursday.

Hareem was extended to limits by fifth seed Iqra Saeed before winning the duel 6-11, 9-11, 12-10, 11-9, 11-3. The latter had sent fourth seed Marium Faiq packing in the quarters on Wednesday.

Atiqa also struggled to whip third seed Maria Tazeem 10-12, 11-9, 12-10, 11-8 in the other semi-final.

Meanwhile, the quartet comprising top seed and former Karachi champion Atta Abbas, second seed Hussain Virani, third seed Khawar Mahmood and fourth seed Farhan Hashim advanced into the men’s singles by winning their second round matches.
