LANDI KOTAL: Khyber Agency Political Agent Khalid Mehmud has called upon tribal elders and local residents to help his administration and security forces in identifying suspected elements in Landi Kotal.

Speaking to the families of the 17 Shinwari tribesmen, who were recovered recently, and local elders here on Tuesday, he said lasting peace could not be established without the support of elders and tribesmen.

“We can only bring the situation under our effective control when local elders and residents also fulfill their collective responsibility of keeping a constant vigil on activities of undesirable elements in society,” he insisted.

Mr Mehmud then distributed food and non-food items among the families of the recovered tribesmen along with giving them Rs10,000 each.

The assistance was provided by the Fata Disaster Management Authority.

Meanwhile, elders of Khugakhel tribe have demanded of the political administration to help resolve the issue of Torkham taxi stand as it was incurring a huge monetary loss to them since its closure for over a year.
