KARACHI: Bounce Club and Neighbourhood Club registered contrasting victories over their opponents to inch closer to making it to the semi-finals in the Kashmir Day basketball tournament at the Arambagh floodlit court on Saturday.

Bounce Club sent National Club packing 67-25 while Neighbourhood Club survived a scare by getting the better of fighting One Unit Club 46-42 in the Group ‘A’ matches.

Bounce Club is drawn to face Neighbourhood Club in their last group fixture that will decide the top two slots.

Neighbourhood Club have maintained a clean slate in the three matches played so far while Bounce have won two and lost one.

The trio of Mubashir (15), Zia Ahmed (10) and Asad Mirza (9) caught the eye for Bounce Club who led 34-14 at half-time.

Anzar Omer and Shehryar Nasir contributed eight and six respectively for the losers.

Lack of scoring and wasting opportunities spoiled One Unit Club’s chances to pull a upset and interrupt the unbeaten run of Neighbourhood Club.

Neighbourhood, who are playing without full strength, were seen struggling against their opponents and lack of stamina compelled them to lose the last two quarters.

Asad Ali scored 10 and was followed by Hammad Khan and Salar nine apiece for the winners. Talal’s 20 went in vain for One Unit Club as Salar finished with 12.

In another match, Malir Trojans inflicted 29-10 defeat on Munawwar Abbasi Club in a low-scoring match. Ali Murtaza (11), Abrar (10) stole the limelight for the winners while Usman and Hasan scored four and three respectively for the losers.
