MUZAFFARABAD: Two women were injured in unprovoked Indian firing in Kotli district of Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.
According to police, Rabia Bibi, 25, was injured in Batali village of Goi sector and Sehrish Manzoor, 18, in Mohra village of Nakyal sector after Indian troops resorted to firing from across the Line of Control (LoC) at 10am.
“Ceasefire violations by Indian troops have become order of the day, and ironically they are targeting unarmed and innocent civilians without any provocation,” a police official told Dawn from Kotli.
The heavily militarised LoC has been witnessing skirmishes and shelling in a serious breach of a ceasefire agreement signed by armies of the two countries in November 2003, and as a result civilian casualties are taking place frequently in different AJK villages along the dividing line.
