TIMERGARA: Pakistan People’s Party, Lower Dir president and former provincial minister Mehmood Zeb Khan has claimed that the PPP is regaining popularity and will bag majority of seats in the next general elections.

He was addressing a meeting of party workers arranged by PPP, Timergara chapter at Sarai Payeen Talash here on Sunday. Activists of Peoples Youth Organisation and Peoples Students Federation were also in attendance.

Mr Zeb said the PTI-JI coalition government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had failed to initiate any mega project in Dir.

He said the PTI chief Imran Khan and KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak had inaugurated the establishment of Timergara Medical College four years ago, but the project was not materialised.

“The PPP changed the lives of the poor for the better, and the party founder, late Zulfiqar Bhutto, gave recognition to the country at the international level and ensured that poor people can earn an honourable living abroad,” he said, adding the PTI had deceived the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on the slogan of change.

The former minister said thousands had benefitted from the BISP programme launched by his government while thousands of youth were employed during the previous government.

He said he had got approval of construction of degree colleges for boys and girls in Talash in his tenure as minister but despite passage of four and a half years the present government did not start work on the projects.

He alleged the incumbent government had abandoned the development projects approved by the PPP government in the province.

Meanwhile, two JI youth, Shaukat Khan and Amjad Khan, and Nadeem Khan from PTI, announced joining the PPP on the occasion.

OPEN KUTCHERI: District police officer Nowsher Khan has said police are committed to keeping the area clear of outlaws.

He stated this while speaking at an open kutcheri at Haya Serai police station in Maidan the other day.

The area elders demanded construction of a police post on Haya Serai bypass road and increase in staff in police stations.

The DPO directed owners of the shopping centres to install CCTV cameras and provide parking facility to motorists. He said public support was necessary in controlling street crime.
