DADU, May 7: Only 100 cusecs contaminated water was released from the Manchhar Lake into the River Indus on Saturday. The assistant engineer, protective bund, Manchhar Lake, Mohammad Haroon Mojani, told journalists that the quantity of water to be released into the river from the lake through the Aral Wah would be increased gradually.
A technical team of the Right Bank Outfall Drain project, comprising project director Mohammad Shuja Junejo, superintending engineer Manzoor Ahmad Magsi and chief consultant Jan Mohammad Soomro, visited the Aral Wah where they were given a briefing about the situation by officials.
Mr Junejo said 600 cusecs water released on Friday would reach the Kotri Barrage on Sunday evening. He said at present water flow in the Indus near Sehwan was 30,000 to 35000 cusecs.
He said the RBOD project would be completed by December and then saline water of the MNV Drain would be released into the sea through the RBOD.
