Forgotten tragedies

Published January 13, 2018

DOES anyone remember nine-year-old Taiba? The girl who used to work at a judge’s residence brutally tortured for months --the one, for whom, fake parents turned up to sign a declaration of forgiveness.

Does anyone recall six-year-old Tooba? She was abducted in Karachi and dismembered after being sexually abused. She was forgotten when the media focused on the Pakistan Premier League’s inauguration.

I am sure none will remember eight-year-old Imran. He was thrown from the third floor of a seminary in Faisalabad after being abused. His body lay in the street for five hours.

If no one remember any of these children, or that those who snuffed out these innocent lives still walk the land, then I am afraid, little unfortunate Zainab will also be forgotten. Till the next unlucky child.
